Little, beautiful Suri Cruise – daughter of Tom Cruise and Kaity Holmes – is one of those “high-heel victims”. She´s only three years old and there she goes on heels. I mean, come on, this even can´t be healthy seen on a long time basis!

Plus, this doesn´t even seem to be a rare thing. No, you can buy high heels for little kids. Why let them wear comfortable, normal shoes and let them be able to play around? Why even let children be children?

Nowadays, there are a lot of young kids who are under this pressure to be in and cool. Wearing the newest brand is so important, else they are easily excluded.

10-year-old girls get their legs waxed (!!!) and wear grown-up stuff. Personally, I miss the old times, where it absoloutely didn´t matter what you wore – even the colours of my clothes didn´t match together! But so what, who cared? I was a child and the most important thing was what to play next.

People (hollywood parents) should clearly rethink and especially fashiondesigner should finally realize what the actually are doing.

Ok, I just had a lecture on Cultural Studies and be kind of analyzed a few adds and also talked about the role of women/men.

And I immediately remembered a video I saw on youtube like 3 years ago and I absoloutely loved it because it is brilliant.

I think it is an add, but I don´t know for what, since it doesn´t seem to be the whole add….

Anyways, you HAVE TO see this!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It´s awesome!!!!

You just gotta watch it yourself!

Until, a few weeks ago I saw this blueish bookcover on a shelve in a bookstore that said Nick Hornby on it, so I thought, Hey, Let´s buy it! After a few weeks on my bookshelf I finally took it and started to read, expecting a boring-oh-so-wise-and-sophisticated-complicated book. But after the first page I was hooked by the characters.

I really love Nick Hornby´s style, the way he reveals information. A chapter starts out vey innocently about a random though and after a few pages you suddenly know a whole lot about the person talking. This style is quite unique I think- at least I don´t know any books that are similar.

Plot:

Basically, the book is about four totally, completely, absoloutely different people all planning to do the same thing on New Year´s Eve: to jump off a roof. That would be a long way down indeed.

Martin Sharp, a breakfast Tv presentator as literally fucked up his life, crazy punk girl Jess is looking for social approvement- her boyfriend left her! -, Maureen is sick of caring for her retarded son and American JJ But as the story goes, they somehow wait and don´t kill themselves immediately. After all, they all are seeking a reason to live on and deep inside they hope the others could help them. But of course they would never ever admit that.

Although I haven´t finished it yet, I like it. It´s not flawless, but quite a good read. There are all those small things that make it seem real and authentic and you totally can understand every point of view. My personal favourite is Jess. the way she talks, haha, no one could fucking ever beat that girl in fucking talking.

The fact that the main characters are so different and multidimensional make this book interesting for every kind person.

Can´t wait to finish it. I hope I still like it when I´m through….

The fan has been bugging me recently and now it´s just unbearable!!!! Here it goes again, “brrrrrr, brrrrr!!!!” Aaaaaahh, I could just scream out loud!!!!

I´m going crazy!!!! So people, if you want to buy a VAIO notebook, be careful about the fan!!

BEFORE you buy it, google the notebook and read as many reviews as possbile, so you don´t end up with a piece of crap in the end.

I really hope my notebook is going to be okay again. Because now it definitely needs to see the notebook-doctor. And if the notebook-doctor does a bad job, maybe he will need a real doctor………lol

So I haven´t got a lot by now. I mean, although I seemed to have worked quite a lot on it, I “only” have the pre-story to my story – so that things are clear – and a lot of characters. And since I want to make them as real for the reader as they are for me, I´m determined to work a lot on them. (I´ll write about characters later)

So, of course, she asked me what the story was about. I told her that I´m not rather sure about the details in the main plot yet so she wanted to know something about my main character.

And suddenly it occurred to me, OMG! What shall I say, so it won´t sound stupid?! I started to tell a little bit and it kind of felt really very personal, do you know what I mean? Like it´s kind of difficult to share the story at an early stage like that, and that I had spent much time in this other fictional world with those fictional characters that are so real to me (don´t wanna sound psycho, lol) and I was so afraid to have them criticized already.

So I really want to know if this is normal, that it´s like really personal stuff to you when you are writing. Because although I have written some kind of short stories already, I never talked about them to anyone and only two were read by teachers, so yeah, you might say I´m new at this telling others. I´m not sure if I really even want to tell anyone that this story is serious for me, and not just a joke or a pastime. I think, I won´t tell anyone about it whom I know in person, except maybe to this friend, but only later, when my story is more mature….

But I´m still determined to become a writer! I started a looot of “books”, and mostly stopped after a few chapters…..and now I finally think I got two quite decent ideas! yay!! I´m soooo excited! But I still have a long long way to go. And it´s gonna be tough, tough.

Here´s what the film basically is about:

Back in the summer of 1972, 11-year-old tomboy Vada Sultenfuss (Anna Chlumsky) spends most of her time with her best friend Thomas J. (Macaulay Culkin), who sticks with her all the time.

Vada´s mother is dead and her father, Harry Sultenfuss (Dan Aykroyd), doesn´t seem to understand his little daughter at all. He runs a funeral parlor (in their house!), a fact that contributes a lot to Vada´s obsession with death. She is a hypochondriac and thus constantly believes she´s dying (<- very funny!).

But Vada also is convinced that her mother´s death is her fault, since she died giving birth to her.

But this is of course the summer Vada grow up and everything´s changing for her.

When Vada’s father hires Shelly (Jamie Lee Curtis) as a makeup artist in his funeral parlor, Vada starts to like the fact that there is a woman in their house. But when she starts to notice that her father begins to fall in love with Shelly, Vada is upset and alarmed. She is afraid that that strange woman might take over the place of her mother.

The only person she really is able to talk with is Thomas J., who by the way is “allergic to everything”. The two of them often ride their bikes to the lake and start to discuss important things in life (love, death, life…). (How much I loved those scenes, so cute!)

And Vada, of course, develops her fist crush too. It´s her English teacher, Mr. Bixler. She even steals some money to attend a summer writing class that he is teaching in order to impress him.

But, of course, things start to get really bad and Vada gets to know the confusing side of life too.

I personally really loved the first kiss scene at the lake under the weeping willow. It is so cute and ever since weeping willows are my favorite trees!! Here´s the scene:

What makes “My Girl” a really good movie, isn´t its story. It´s those little things that one might not notice immediately; like Vada writing a poem about ice cream, or Thomas J. doing everything for his best friend, because he is adoring her.

The end of the film is a really sad and made me upset. I don´t want to say more than that it´s something about Vada and Thomas J., changing their lives for ever.

As for the actors, I think this is Macaulay Culkin´s (playing Thomas J.) best role ever (better than all the popular Kevin movies).

Also Anna Chlumsky (playing Vada) does a really good job. Both of their characters aren´t shallow and common like other children´s characters. They make them real and complex and this is absolutely adorable.
“My Girl” can be watched by people of every age, for there is something for all of us. It´s a sad movie, but still there is this certain warmth and sentimentality that is so rare in today´s movies.  All in all, a cute, wonderful, beautiful movie – old but awesome!!
